Cyber Security Pro Scott Minikus Will Spotlight Cyber Security Importance at the October Cypress Chamber Networking Breakfast

The Cypress Chamber of Commerce will host Cypress Mayor Pro Tem and Cyber Security Pro Scott Minikus as our guest speaker at the October Networking Breakfast. Our event will be held Tuesday, October 11th at the Residence Inn by Marriott at 4931 Katella Avenue, Cypress/Los Alamitos starting at 7:30 a.m. Scott Minikus currently works for the Cyber Security Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) under the Department of Homeland Security as a Chemical Security Inspector and is assigned to a Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Team. He will share his expertise at our breakfast event to help the audience understand the importance of Cyber Security and how to make our businesses and personal computing more secure and reduce risk of compromising activity.

Scott Minikus is a Cypress resident and currently serves on the Cypress City Council as Mayor Pro Tem. He retired after 25 years in law enforcement as a sergeant with the City of Long Beach before joining the Department of Homeland Security. CISA is the operational lead for federal cyber security and the national coordinator for critical infrastructure security and resilience. CISA was created in 2018 for collaboration and partnership across all sectors to reduce risk to the nation’s cyber and physical infrastructure. CISA’s mission is to lead the national effort to understand, manage, and reduce risk to our cyber and physical infrastructure.

Mayor Pro Tem Minikus also honorably served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) and completed two tours of duty in the Persian Gulf. He has volunteered for a number of local organizations including Department of Homeland Security’s Peer Support Team, his church and as a coach for the Champion Baseball league. He currently serves on a variety of local and regional boards and committees as part of his role on the city council.

Each Chamber breakfast attendee will also have an opportunity to stand to introduce themselves and share a little about their business before the program begins.

Reservations are highly recommended to secure your spot for the monthly breakfasts and can be made online. Cost of the breakfast is $25.00. Early Bird Registration is $20.00. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a door prize to promote their product or service. The program will include time for live networking, self-introductions, a breakfast buffet, and our speaker’s program.

The Chamber breakfasts, which are open to the public, are held on the second Tuesday of every month. Space will be limited. To assure your seat, please pre-register here on the chamber website.
